If you can, plan your trip to take US26 west from Riverton, WY to the Tetons. It's a breathtaking view to see them from a distance as you come over Togwotee Pass. US26 is a nice ride, too.
For Yellowstone, at least two days. Really need about a week.
Nailed it! Did pretty much this route in 3 days end of July '15...probably the best three day stretch I've ever spent on my bike.
My wife and I did the route end of July, except after Jackson Hole we continued south to Grand Junction, CO and then down the Million Dollar Hwy (ouray and Silverton). We actually saw the Mine Spill (thanks EPA) and didn't realize what had happened until seeing the news two days later...
To the OP...I will be in NH for Laconia Bike week in 2016 if you wish to get together and talk about possible routes or suggestions?

rossn2, thanks for the route suggestion through Wyoming (and Montana.) I am also planning on heading to the Million Dollar Hwy (MDH) after Wyoming, but am having difficulty picking the best route. Can you recommend one?
I may also hit the Trail Ridge Road (TRR) through Rocky Mountain National Park before heading to the MDH. This will complicate the route a bit though, so I may do the MDH first, and then head up to the TRR on my way back home. Thanks.
If you go during Bike Week, the crowds are not going to cooperate, so if you can I would plan on spending a little more time. Yellowstone and Tetons can be seen in a day, but you will be rushed. Also, the wildlife doesn't always stick to your schedule, and you would be surprised to know how many people will stop in the middle of the road for ten minutes just to catch a glimpse of a deer (or an elk, or a bear, or a bison). I got held up a couple times by a large herd of bison walking down the road.
I would definitely take in the Tetons. They are spectacular! There are a lot of great roads to ride through the park as well. IMO, it's a much more enjoyable time than Yellowstone.
We went to Yellowstone a few years ago, and then south through the Tetons to get to the national PGR rally in Ogden, Utah. I would sure recommend that you spend at least a couple of days there, if not more.
The ride through the Tetons was so beautiful, we turned around and went through the park again, and then again! We were late for the PGR rally and missed the opening ceremony, but it was worth it.
We got a spectacular show at Old Faithful. She was ten minutes late, and built up quite a head of steam. She starts erupting about a minute into this video I made.
North of Sturgis on Hwy 85, into North Dakota, is Roosevelt National Park. About 200 miles, I believe. Lots of interesting things to see there as well, but not nearly as spectacular as Yellowstone. The round cannonball rocks are fascinating, and long horn cattle and wild horses roam as well as buffalo.

191 South out of Jackson to Grand Junction, CO..stay the night and then Hwy 550 south..191 from Bolder to Rock Springs is a bit boring, just miles and miles of SAGE..Some folks take 189 to Kemmer and kick east towards Grand Junction.
That will be a long ride if you go down to Jackson. Will need 4 days for that. A friend and I went from Sturgis to Red Lodge, Yellowstone, Cody and back to Sturgis in 3 days. It can be done and I saw most things. Did a little partying at night too. 4 would be better
