I'm heading out west this year. Went as far as Minnesota this past year and had a blast. New England was the tour in 2014 and dearly loved that area too. I'm thinking of also attempting an Iron Butt 1000.
Looking at two possibilities, San Francisco Bay Area to Fayetteville, AR to visit mom or to Cascades to visit my best friend (military buddy) to look for retirement homes. Leaving in the first week of July!
Hoping to make it to Cape Disappointment, WA., the home of over 2,000 shipwrecks and where the Coast Guard intentionally rolls their boats over knarly waves for training purposes.
- take 15 north from San Diego up to Glacier National Park. Then head west to Seattle, and come back south along the coast.
- oh yeah,my slush fund will be consumed by my other addiction. With some other couples we are bareboat chartering a 47' sail catamaran in the British Virgin Islands for 2 weeks Caribbean Island hopping.
Starting off the year with a trip to Daytona in March, there's a real good chance I'll be riding out to Sturgis again this August followed by a riding back down to Fayetteville, Ak. for the Bikes, Blues & BBQ rally in September.
I'll be doing a bunch of 3-day weekend trips in between the big trips, I purchased a trailer to pull behind the bike and carry camping gear.
Always do one long trip to a new area and in 2016 we are going to painted desert and then heading up to highway 50 heading home through southern Colorado.
Little over 2,500 hundred miles round trip
Doing a longer trip this year than last - did a 9,500 miler last year. This year riding from east coast of Newfoundland to west coast, through Atlantic provinces, down east coast of US (doing Tail of the Dragon), along thru TN, ARK to Dallas area where my wife has a conference, NM, AZ... returning and hopefully Ala Hog Rally in mid-May, some NASCAR races as I return north, and home sometime in mid-June. I'm just planning the route now...really looking forward to it.
