Default Paducah, KY info

Gonna try to get more riding in this coming season and one of the areas we're thinking about visiting is Paducah, KY.
There should be four of us and two like to explore and two of us like to sit by the pool and "sip some suds"!

Could anyone recommend good motels, restaurants, and scenic roads to explore?

Thanks

If you are planning a spring ride make sure you check the Ohio River Flood conditions, they have had some huge floods in recent years,i'm not real familiar with the KY. side but have rode some of it,if you cross into Il.you will be near the Shawnee National forest all kinds of good rides there check out the Garden of the Gods- Karbers Ridge- the ferry crosses the river at Cave in Rock Il. the Little Sturgis MC rally is in July in Sturgis Ky. not sure about the rally we haven't been in many years, one things for sure summer is Hot and very Humid.Hope you have a good Ride

Best Western right there by Four Rivers Harley is a good place to stay. You can leave your bikes under the awning and there is a neat sports bar across the highway called Show Me's. A Hooters style spin off. Lots of bikers go there and the food is decent too. Check out the murals on the flood walls downtown.

Just south of town Cadiz KY. Ride what is called the trace Not a long ride but a nice one.
Area between the two lakes that many years ago the government took their homes and land away.

Heading that way in late May. We are staying at Kenlake State Park. Lots of lodging choices.

We spent a hot couple of days in July last year at LBL.

Like someone said, Patti's Settlement is a must do.

We visited Fort Donelson, which is an earthworks battery on the Cumberland River.

The riding was hot and to be honest, less than spectacular. Certainly no comparison to the NC/TN/GA mountains that we love.

Maybe we gave in because of the heat, we spent the next week riding a party barge, in oppressive heat, but, bearable because of the lake.

Note to self, forget July riding in the South.

Just returned from 5 day, nearly 2,000 mile trip that took us to and through the Paducah, KY area.

Our plans were changed (a few times) and the wives didn't go with us as originally planned so we didn't to visit the "Quilt Museum" but we made the best of the situation.

It was hot but beautiful weather.

We did get to ride the "Trace" on Sunday and completed the loop from Grand Rivers, KY to Paris, TN with only one stop for ice cream!

We did manage to eat at Patti's 1800 Settlement (twice) and all I can say is that if you like thick, delicious pork chops and "mile high" meringue pies, you need to take a ride to Grand Rivers, KY and try it for yourself.
