Many 4000+ mile trips solo..
Many 1000+ with 2 or 3.

Over I prefer solo, but with the right guys small group ( 2-4) isn't to bad.
I've had trips where ( you're leading)
Larger the crowd ( poker / charity) I'll fight for the rear

I ride with a CMA club so seldom do I ride alone. Most of the 2-8 day trips I've spent 20+ hours planning them. I usually make most of the motel reservations 3-5 days before we leave and then tell everyone else where I'm staying. They make their own reservations and that way we stay friends. For meals, we all agree on what type of food we want to eat for that meal and anyone can pick the restaurant. I like to be on the road no later than 8 am. I don't eat fast food on the road, I'm on vacation and want someone to serve me my meals. My late wife and I rode solo a lot. Current wife won't get near my bike. I prefer on multiple day rides to travel with 3-5 bikes max. Any more then 6 and you sometimes get hung up in towns with traffic lights, and there is more problems deciding where to eat. One rule I have if I'm leading is when one stops for fuel we all fuel up. I try not to ride more than 350 miles per day especially if some of the other riders are not use to 500 mile days. I want the trip to be pleasant for everyone. I prefer to have at least one other bike with me since it is nice to have someone to communicate with while riding or over dinner. That said I retired the first of the year and if I can't find others to ride with I see no reason to stay home.
