This trip will have the lady friend with me so looking for lodging. I generally save the camping for solo or guy rides. Thanks for any help you might be able to offer.

I would recommend this one in Sandpoint. It is downtown and within walking distance to everything. It is built "around" a little old bar that the owner would not sell and is just across the street from a very good bar/restaurant.
Stop over in Clarkston, Wa if you run down Lolo . I always stay at The Best Western River Treehttp://book.bestwestern.com/bestwestern/US/WA/Clarkston-hotels/BEST-WESTERN-RiverTree-Inn/Hotel-Overview.do?propertyCode=48050&iata=00170260&sob=P BMS7.
We park go for a swim in the pool then eat at Roosters which is right on the river.
Winthrop can get real busy as a back up spot look for motels in Twisp,Wa . I stay at the Idle a While or the Sportsman in(simple but clean) Twisp.

A suggestion on route ,
In Washington take Hwy 12 to Clarkston stop there . The next day take Hwy 129 to Enterprise,Or http://www.motorcycleroads.us/roads/wa129.html.
Then continue on to La Grande,Oregon and spend the night in Baker City ,Oregon or ride through to McCall.
The ride through the Hell's Canyon Scenic Byway is spectacular. On the way have Lunch at the Lostine Tavern on the highway just past Enterprise,Oregon.
I stay at the Alpine Inn in Jackson,Wy. It's an old style motel where you park in front of your room. It's clean with great beds and only 2 or 3 blocks from town. Book early it's busy.
Guys I really want to thank you all for the help on the lodging issues and good spots to eat. I will get busy and start making reservations. When this ride comes off I plan to post photo's and short notes about the trip.
Late August, September and early October be prepared for a lot of forest fire smoke. So far this year it's looking to be a not so bad of a year for forest fires. The North Umpqua from Roseburg to 97 Junction is a very scenic ride in either direction.
