Default BRP Locals... help please...

Taking a trip out east in mid May. Only have 10-11 days. Planing on leaving SE Okla and get to the Cherokee, NC area and staying there 2-3 days. Want to leave there and go up the BRP a ways. Then will circle around catching a little of Virgins, W. Virginia, Kentucky before stopping in Nashville for a couple of days.

I'm trying to figure out my schedule for the days leaving Cherokee and getting to Nashville. What I'm needing to know is whether i can get on the BRP (on either side of Asheville) and make it to Boone, NC in one day? or is that too much? I would probably want to get off the BRP at Hwy. 321.

I'm not for sure how many miles that would be on the BRP and with any stops to look around, it may be more than really possible in one day. So any ideas on how many miles and time that would be would be appreciated.

It can be done in one day, if you don't like to stop and take in the scenery. You will also be going right by Mt. Mitchell, which is the highest point east of the Rockies.

It just depends on how much you want to stop and see.

I would definitely run the BRP from Cherokee to Ashville. That's my favorite part.

Local here......mile marker at Cherokee (the end of BRP) is 469.....mm at hwy 321 is about 295......you are looking at around 175 miles at 45 mph......can do, even with stops.......IMO, the best of the BRP is the southern half....

Not a local, but have ridden the BRP north to south and south to north. The southern section is the best...agree 100%. If you can get up and going early you can make it. If you are riding solo (not in a group) you can stop when you want. Make sure you don't just blow past all the cool stuff though.

Thanks rochkes. That is the kind of info i'm looking for as well. Thought about skipping that and getting on at the NE side of Asheville.
