US Route 2
One of the trips was when at the start of the oil boom a good part of 2 was tore up for rebuilding. A dirt/gravel path was on one side and crossed over periodically. I was on a 10 Ultra and it mushed around on the loose surface but I made it okay. To me when touring nothing is negative. It is all part of the adventure like a heavy snow in late spring exiting the Eisenhower Tunnel on the way to Breckenridge in the Rockies. Or winds in excess of 40+ mph gusts and blinding down pours in North Dakota.
I not only liked the views in Montana but no sales tax really impressed this over taxed midwesterner.

In 2010, there were 757 hotel rooms in Williston. Now, more than 25 hotels exist, with a total of about 2,300 rooms.
In a recent letter to the city commission in opposition of a proposal to extend some camps’ permits until 2019, more than 30 managers and owners of hotels in Williston wrote that occupancy in January over the past four years has stayed consistent at 60 percent, while rates for January of this year plummeted to 27 percent. A September 2015 study by Denver-based THK Associates estimates that 1,750 hotel beds here are vacant.
The oil boom has gone bust...
I hope to miss any snow, but I am concerned about wind and downpours. Thanks Bricklayer, I'll keep an eye on the weather. Nice to be able to carry an iPhone with weather apps!
Cool, Uncle Larry, I'll put Pictured Rocks, H58, and Clark Motel on my list. I love the old mom and pop motels. Thanks for the tip on Williston Frostbite, it sounds like I should be able to find a room. I'll be sure to check out the bar in Glasgow LoneRiderFLH, sounds impressive!

I'm up in the New Paltz/Kingston area, IMHO, the Catskills and Gunks have the best rides in New York!

Cheers,
Doc
