I won't be able to make the rally this year....but want to book for NEXT year (2017). I know its early....but I like to plan ahead.
That said, I would like to stay in Sturgis proper if I can, but I would not mind if I had to stay in Deadwood. I cant stay for the whole time...maybe 4 days at most.
Looking for recommendations on lodging. I would prefer a hotel or cabin with full amenities such as toilet and shower.
Most hotel chains are in Sturgis and Deadwood....everyone here will tell you that the
place they stayed at was great...so do yourself a favor and start checking which hotel chain you prefer and start shopping....hopefully they will take your reservation 1.5 years in advance. By the way we (6 couples) decided to rent a house on Lead....close by Sturgis with fine roding roads.
You might have a problem booking this early, most places will offer the 2017 rooms/cabins to the 2016 renters. We are going this year, booked a house in Deadwood. They would not take our money until 2015 rally was over and the renters took a pass on it for 2016.
2013 I just got on my RK and rode from Florida to Sturgis Rally. No reservation and knew no one there. Took a tent and a bag. Found a lady who rented me a spot in her back yard with table and shower each day. Just a small hand made sign in her yard just outside Hill City. Brought us coffee and donuts in the mornings. I paid $27 for the whole 4 nights. bro, just ride and see what happens when you get there. I was 53 yo and needed to drop about 50lbs so you dont have to be a kid to have fun and "rough it". Just ride!
Check out Rush No More Campground. I think it's 3 exits before Sturgis. I stayed there for the 75th in tent. They do have cabins for rent though. Nice place
