To WV Riders
Heading from upstate PA on Friday, to Columbus OH. On Sunday I thought I'd take a scenic route home. Thinking I'd head down to Athens, and I've heard 50 is a great ride. Might cut up to 68 on 219 or stay on 50, and take 220 up to Cumberland. Then it's 220/99 to get me home. Are all these routes OK, re. flooding that you had in WV? Thanks.
If you're coming into Ohio, might I suggest that when you get into Ohio at Belpre, there is Ohio 555 in Little Hocking. This road will take you to Ohio 669 and from there you can make your way to Ohio 13. Go north to Jacksontown and on your left at the light visit the Jacktown Pub. Best Philly cheesesteak sammage this side of, well Philly. You guided me thru PA, now let me suggest some routes thru my country.

Thanks Jay, but I'm going in on the top side --- 80 to 76 to 71 south to my sister's in Delaware. Heading out on Sunday morning. Do you like 50 heading east out of Athens? Anything I should stop & see --- like Kinzua Bridge up here near me, or Kinzua Dam, or the canyon? I know there was flooding down there, and just wondered if there was anything washed out, where I won't be able to get through on 50.

US50 out of Athens is a great road. Beware of cops though! They are strict in that area (like all of Ohio, only worse).
I just passed through central WV last week (Huntington on I64, to I79, to Rt 48/US33 to Seneca Rocks, then N on Rt 28 to US48. All of those areas were good to go.
If you get far enough south, US33 is one of the better roads in the state, IMO.

50 is pretty nice once east of Bridgeport, staying on it to 220 takes you down another ridge. IMO 219 north from 50 is probably a little more scenic than 220, 219 keeps you up higher (cooler) and runs along Deep Creek lake.
Heading to WV in two weeks for an eight day vacation. Staying in Elkins and Lewisburg, I as also wondering about the roads. I know white Sulfur Springs near Lewsiburg was hit pretty hard.

Geezer, check out rt 56 which is just north of 50. They both end up in Athens, but 56 takes you though Hocking Hills, stop in at a place called Jimbo's right off 56 in South Bloomingville. It's a great biker bar with good food.
