Thinking of taking a trip from northeast Missouri to the Southeast Ohio area in the middle of June. Plan on riding around the Athens area for 3 to 5 days. Seems like it might be a nice riding area but I am interested in what the HD Forum members have to say???
The April '17 issue of Road Runner magazine did their shamrock tour out of Athens, OH. Being from Ohio I have road many of those roads and know you will have a great time riding that area.
Well I graduated from OU in Athens and it a great area. Check out the hocking hills area, make sure you make a stop at Jimbo's in South Bloomingville, a real cool biker joint with great food. Make sure you ride rt 56 and rt 374 in Hocking Hills.
Then ride over to rt 78 and check out the Muskie bucket. Make sure you ride rt 555 aka "The triple nickel" it is a fun road. I also like rt 26 from Marettia to Woodsfield. I am sure other will chime in but you will be able to ride several good days and never rid the same road twice.
Hocking Hills area is very nice. If you are planning on renting a cabin there, MAKE SURE you can get a motorcycle to it. Some of them you will never get a bike up to the cabin since the driveway is vertical.
Jimbo's has new owners, hopefully they don't screw up a great place!!
Perry_um listed some great rides - If you are into some history Custer Monument is a nice stop,
I was in the Athens area last summer and some if the area has some good scenery.
On my way home I ran some of the roads next to the Ohio River just for kicks.
Slow riding but there's a lot of history and Americana that many of us have never seen.

That is actually where I got the idea!!
Thanks to everyone who has responded! Still trying to plan what kind of route I will take from home (Hannibal, MO.) to get there without rolling through big cities!!
