Honestly - you can't miss up there! 73 through lake placid to saranac, 30 down to Saratoga from there, another day head west on 3 or 28. 9N up to Fort Ticonderoga and take the ferry across to,some great riding in VT. The whole area is beautiful
Just for the fun of it, bring your passport. Montreal is only 160 miles away. We were at Americade a couple of years ago and decided one night to have lunch in Montreal the next day. The next morning we took off at 8:30, had lunch in Montreal, spent about 2 hours checking out the city, and headed back to Lake George. We pulled in at 9:30 that night, tired, hungry but smiling.
As previously mentioned, Lake Placid is only a couple of hours away. Or, head northeast on most any road and you'll be in the Vermont mountains.
You'll run out time before you run out of good riding roads.
Like others have indicated, tons of good riding. One that is close by is to head S on 9N out of Lake George (not sure where you are staying specifically but you can pick it up where Best Western is located) to Lake Luzerne/Hadley town to loop Lake Sakandaga. Take bridge street almost as soon as you head into Hadley (a quick stop to look at the rapids around the bridge) and follow the road until the CR7 exit (comes up quick) on left a couple miles down to the dam. Cross over the dam and continue S on CR7 and follow the lake all the way to the bottom. You will come to a relatively large bridge about halfway down. Take a left and keep the lake to your right. There are some good small loops to keep you along the lake further down (like Lakeview road). You will come to the town of Broadalbin at the bottom of the lake. You can take the town road to Rt 22/30S where you will find the Harley dealer. Take 30N (a good ride all the way to Canada). You can loop the lake by taking the bridge street exit to Northville. Stay on CR4 (don't cross the big bridge or you end up where you were earlier. CR4 along the lake is great riding and will return you to Hadley. Good for a 2-3 hour run. Route 30N to route 8 is excellent as well if you want to stay relatively close to Lake George. For larger rides, the above mentioned 28, 30, 56 and anything around Lake Placid is great. Rt 30 is like the central N/S gateway for the Adirondacks so you can build loops off of any part of it. If you go to Lake placid, head over to Whiteface (86 is a sweet ride) and ride to the top. Hike the short (half mile or less) rock path to the top if the weather is nice. Aw hell, it is all good up there. Ping if you have specific targets you are interested in or if you want some nice large rides. Here is one 350 miler - (28 out of Lake George to 30N up to Malone and east to Rouse Point, cross into VT ride 2 down through the middle of the lake to 89S and slab for 8 mile to avoid Burlington, then get off on RT 7 S to 22A in Vergennes and then 17 back to the bridge at Chimney Point VT and follow signs to Ticondaroga 22S Take 22S which becomes 4 all the way to Fort Ann and 149 back over to Lake George area or 9N S out of Ticonderoga along the lake (it will usually be busy on this side during Americade). :-) (BTW--there is Route 9 and Route 9N which a separate roads and 9N does NOT mean 9 North -- I try to warn everyone who will listen as it screws people up first time out) Enjoy most of all!!
