Yea, we drove up to Mt. Charleston last May and it was in the 90's on the strip and it was snowing at the top. We planned to take a hike but all I had on were shorts and a t-shirt.

Ride I-15 North about 20 - 30 miles. Ride through the Valley of Fire state park (fee) explore the canyons and go East. Turn North on 169 to Overton, NV. Gas up and have lunch at Sugars. Then back South on 169 along Lake Mead to the Hoover Dam and back into Vegas. 130 - 150 miles depending.

So, here's our plan....

93 south to Kingman, Route 66 to Seligman, then 40 back west to 93.
Depending on the time, take 93 back to Vegas or if we have enough time, 68 west over to 95 north and back to Vegas.

Last year, we took 93 to Kingman and Route 66 to Oatman and down to 40, back up to 95 and to Vegas. That was around 350 miles.

I have the bike for 400 miles so I'm thinking 93 down and back to Vegas will be the best for mileage and time. How does this sound? We'll be starting at Las Vegas Harley at 10 am. I don't really care how late we get back that night.

This is my latest plan. We're headed to Las Vegas this Thursday and have the bike rented for Friday. The total distance is around 335 miles but I'm sure we'll make some little detours to check out the small towns. I don't think I could fit Route 66 all the way to Seligman and back in a day so I just planned on about 50 miles to Peach Springs then turn around and head back. Az 68 looks like a direct way to 95 north. We rode to Oatman last year so I want to take a different way west to 95.

The good news is that it will be cooling for the weekend, only 90*. Still warm though so use caution.
Looks like a nice ride! Peach Springs is a decent ride and will free up some time opposed to Seligman. Side stops on the way back might include food/drink at Chloride and/or Rosie's Den.
Enjoy your ride

Agree with Billman812 on Rosie's Den or Chloride. Arizona Last Stop, north of Rosie's, isn't worth stopping at.

There's not much that's compelling on 66 between Kingman and Peach Springs (except Hackberry General Store). I'd urge you consider turning around at Hackberry (if you want to get some of that stretch of Route 66 in) or just head west when you get to Kingman. Use the time you saved to take 95 north and a side trip off 95 to Nelson to the El Dorado Mines and the end of 165 at the Colorado River. Far more interesting road, much better scenery and plenty of cool rusty stuff to look at. (This way you also get that great stretch of 66/10/Oatman Road, too) This is a much more scenic and interesting ride.

If you go that way and you haven't stopped there, check out Shaffer Spring (3.4 miles west of the Cool Springs Station on 66). There's a curve to the right and on the left, you'll see steps carved into the stone. At the top of the steps is a spring well with goldfish in it ... goldfish in the middle of the desert.

A few other tips ... Assuming you are talking about Eagle Rider in Las Vegas ... (1) Make your reservation ahead of time and "check in" when they send you the email. (2) Get there BEFORE they open. There is likely to be a number of renters and they still make you fill out paper work (even if you check in, but it is easier). It can take some time, especially if there are groups ahead of you. If you are not first in line, give it at least an hour. *We got there just after 10am and it took us almost 2 hours to get on the road* There was at least one group that cancelled their reservation as they had to wait around for too long and it ruined their day trip plans. (3) If you really want a particular bike, pay the $18 for the model guarantee. Last time I was there, there were several groups that were pissed when they reserved Electra Glides and got Goldwings or something with a tiny pillion 2-up seat (not something you don't want to ride 300+ miles on).

We made it back from Vegas today and the bike ride went well. We rode like planned down 93 to Kingman, east on Route 66 to Hackberry, back to Kingman and up to 68 and west to Laughlin, and finally back north on 95 to Vegas. About 290 miles in all. The wind was very strong though and slowed us down quite a bit.

I bought some souvenirs at the Hackberry general store. We stopped at Mikes Route 66 Outpost and Saloon between Kingman and Hackberry, had some cold ones and signed a dollar bill for the ceiling.

I rode some more in Vegas the next morning before returning the bike to Las Vegas Harley. I would rent from them again. I got a '17 Ultra Limited with 1,800 miles.

We've been to Vegas twice and rented from the harley dealership. We did all the roads mentionned on their website and the best one was the Valley of Fire.We also went up to Zion National Park which was very cool,we liked it more than the Grand Canyon,Which is why we went twice!
