Default Deep Creek Md Trip - Suggestions?

Hey All -

A buddy and I are planning to go to the Deep Creek, MD area from 30June-03July, leaving from southeast PA. I was there once before a few years back. At that time we got a hotel near DC and did day rides in the area and in W.V. (Route 50). We actually didn't spend much time around the DC lake except for a lunch and dinner stop.

Any suggestions for hotels, biker-friendly bars, restaurants and day-rides in the Deep Creek area? I need to book a hotel soon given the upcoming 04th July holiday. We don't need to stay in DC necessarily...anywhere in the vicinity would be fine.

We typically do scenic day-rides and check out local points of interest....stop at a Tavern for lunch, ride some more in the afternoon, and then head back to the hotel area for the evening. It would be nice to stay at a hotel that's near restaurants/bars and some night life to avoid riding too far after dark. We went to Elkins, WV last year...that was cool...looking to do WV again but need another day or two for that trip.

So anywhere near Deep Creek, MD or nearby WV would be great. Suggestions for hotels, biker-friendly bars, restaurants and day-rides is appreciated. A nice, clean, comfortable mid-scale hotel would be fine.

Thanks all.

Never mind. I was going to direct you to another recent thread, but then saw that you had been there.

Go down to 68 west to 79 south to Weston WV, to the Trans Alleghany Lunatic Asylum. On 33 a few miles west of 79. A HUGE old mental hospital, closed in 1994, and now guided tours through it. Kinda creepy, but pretty cool. A few different tours from which to choose. Easy day ride from DC. You should go to Seneca Rocks and Spruce **** 1 day too. I'm in upstate PA, and discovered WV riding last summer. Been down there several times.
