We booked a house near Murphy NC for a week in August. I have found all the great roads in that area, Dragon Tail, Cherohala skyway, Moonshiner, Devils Triangle, Gap6 and Georgia Gauntlet, etc.
I am looking for things to see and do near or along any of those routes. Waterfalls, museums, odd quirky things. Not really interested in spending 3 or 4 hours of the day being a tourist. I could just spend the entire day on the bike enjoying the roads and scenery but alas I am not alone on this trip and have others interests to keep in mind.
All of us though have been to the Museum in Maggie Valley so not really wanting to do that one again.

Thanks for your help!
With all due respect this is a good start but nowhere near all the good roads in the area.
One of my favorites is Wayah Road that runs along Nantahala lake between Murphy and franklin area, Rt 64 along the Ocoee river, 30 and 315 through reliance Tenn. The list goes on and on.
In Tellico there are 2 museums right in town worth checking out I believe they both are free. While there stop in the Tellico Bakery for a quick bite.
Learned to kayak on the Nantahala River (River of the Noon Day Sun.) They have a really good restaurant, they are on the Appalachian Trail and near the BRP. And, the Ocoee is an OK distraction for a few hours. The Hiawassee River is stocked with Brown Trout, if fishing interests you. Farther away, Asheville, NC, for the wife .... restaurants, boutique shops, the mansion
The list goes on and on is correct. I just mentioned all the roads that are most common. I have already found Wayah Road and have that planned for already.
Like you said, one cannot hardly go wrong on just about any road in that area!

Several waterfalls on 28 headed towards Franklin. Bridal Veil is the one name to comes to mind but one big one you walk under and Bridal veil (flow depends on rain) you ride under. Another fall at the Tellico end of Cherohala on a side road that is marked. These are all right beside the road except this first one you have to get off the bike and go down some steps to reach. Most are shown on the Killboy maps so search those also.

There is way too much good riding to worry about museums etc. Just ride and enjoy a beautiful part of the world. 3-400 mile days are easily achievable and never hit the same great road twice!!!
Field of the Wood outside of Murphy. Not sure the exact road it's on but you will see a sign on the right just before the turn off when heading west on 19 toward TN.
May be a little out of the way, but we also like the road to Helen GA. Kind of touristy but we usually do lunch and then head back out.
