Default Seattle to Utah

I'm riding my 883 Sportster to Utah for a friend's wedding in August. I don't have saddlebags or a two up seat with sissy bar. Any recommendations or ideas on how to attach a large camping backpack to the bike safely?

Hey, I'm no trying to be a smart a$$, but have you concidered renting a touring bike like a RK, or better yet a Classic?

That's a good idea. If I can find a good rate I might rent one. It'll be more comfortable, but it wouldn't be the same as doing it on my bike.

A guy in my hometown rides a metric, when he goes on a long ride he takes his wife so he can hang the backpack on her shoulders. Works for him. He's still married and she's not a blond, go figure.

I would geta comfy 2 up seat and a back rest. Tie your gear down behind you, gives you something to lean back on. Make those long trips nize!
