Default Recommendations for Nova Scotia

Planning a trip to Cape Breton this summer, we were there in 2012 did the Cabot Trail and some of PEI. This time around we are thinking 2-3 days on the Cape then 2-3 days on the main land. We are looking at riding around and up to the Cape then taking the Ferry from Digby to St John's on the way back. I am looking for ideas, routes and things to see last time there we didn't have much time.

Hey, I live in Halifax, Bedford actually. Weather permitting, I hope you have a great trip. Quick answer would be to search the forum for Nova Scotia threads. There are a couple of good recent ones probably with most if not all the info you are looking for. If there are any more specific questions that you have I'd be happy to help.

Did that trip last summer. Good times, for sure. We stayed two nights in Baddeck while riding the Cabot Trail. Once all the way around. You've done it before, so you know it takes a long time - especially with construction zone, if not finished - to go all the way around. Second day, we only rode the west side of the trail... best part, in my opinion.

On the mainland, I really liked Lunenburg. And we had a great time hanging around the waterfront in Halifax. Went to the Maritime Museum and the Titanic Gravesite. I posted a lot of pics and description of our trip here...

Whale watching at Digby was a total fail - but I'd try it again if I was up there again. We used the Cat from Yarmouth to Portland. Very nice, very fast.

Enjoy. Post pics.

Florida - great write up we are more than likely going to follow some of your route heading south along the Eastern shore line down to Yarmouth before turning north to Digby. Last time there we had booked a whale watching trip out of Cheticamp but a strong blew in and that was cancelled we are hoping to get that in this time around. Will also look into Halifax as a stopover.
