Celebrating the big 5-0 with an AZ Road Trip
New to riding. Late bloomer. Just learned last summer. Recently graduated from a '14 Sportster (my first bike) to my current love. A '14 FLSTC.
Heading out Saturday morning, Apr 28. Me and the wife (wife on the bike with me... she doesn't ride). Tentative route can be seen at https://maps.harley-davidson.com/map...Nmmc6q/preview.
I'm on the west side of AZ, so heading up to Wickenburg/Yarnell/Prescott first. I've done that before. A few times, actually. Great ride.
Pressing on to Jerome and Sedona. Then heading towards Flagstaff. Might make a quick stop. Not sure. Want to hit Winslow from there... but not via 40. I've heard Lake Mary Road is worth a ride... so a slight detour down Lake Mary Road, then up to Winslow. I've done Winslow once before (see profile pic). First Sunday that I had the bike my daughter and I rode up there and back. Wife's never been tho, and it's a cool place to see if you grew up on Eagles music like I did.
From there, things are kind of up in the air. The plan for now is to keep heading east, out to Holbrook. Why? Not sure, other than never been, then down to Show Low.
From there, I originally thought about going down Salt River Canyon to Globe. I've never been, and heard it was nice. But just recently changed that up to go back thru Payson (originally didn't want to, since I've seen Payson a few times) and then down to Lake Roosevelt. Never been to Roosevelt... so that was the big reason for the change.
From Roosevelt, down to Globe, and back home. Hoping to be back Sunday... but wife and I both took off from work on Monday just in case

Any locals with any suggestions, I'm all ears. Wife and I have done Sedona and Prescott and Flag to death. The eastern part of the trip will be newer to both of us.
