I've towed my trailer over a 100 for miles an miles On the way to Sturgis and Laconia I personally prefer leaf Spring straight axle 8" wheels You can buy a tire and rim ready to go at Walmart for 35 bucks 14 years dragn a trailer I've never had a problem " A man once told me the math of a good trailer is to measure outside 2 outside of your tires and double that , that should be minimum lengrh from Axel to tongue" My trailer's 10' long 8' tongue to axel Best thing I ever bought from my bike The picture at top is my old bke and trailer The trailers a roadrunner

I've only met one person (a woman in Ohio) that was really negative about towing a trailer behind a motorcycle, and I suppose she had a good reason to feel that way.
She and her husband were probably in their early 60's and they had an Ultra and a trailer (not sure of the brand or type).
According to her, they were riding on a two-lane highway when one of the trailer tires blew out and he lost control of the bike and dumped it.
After the crash, she noticed that the trailer had somehow "jack-knifed" and was laying very close to her head and she swore that they'd never have or pull another trailer.
Trailer tires are critical components, as are bearings, when being towed by a motorcycle and a failure may cause anyone to lose control of their motorcycle.
Tires need to be less than 6 years old and on long, freeway trips the pressure needs to be checked daily, before getting on the road.
"Buddy Bearings" are a must and I carry a mini-grease gun and give each one a couple of squirts after a days ride or when ever they need it.

The only thing I can say about the issue is last year I pulled into a gas station in Iowa to get gas and just as I turned off the bike the guy next to me said "do you know you have a flat tire on your trailer"? I didn't know it and I don't know how long I had it. I drove it to a tire place (about 5 miles) and they plugged it for me for free. I love Iowa!

My parents have towed a trailer all over the country and I finally joined the ranks of towing one this year. I am looking forward to having my bags and tour pack "empty" on a trip. Plus there won't be any lip between the wife and I while packing when she wants to bring 6 pairs of shoes and half of our bathroom for a weekend trip.
Most of the group that we ride with have trailers and they all love it.
Only issue I am aware of is my dad once had the ball come loose while riding, they didn't go down but it was one hell of a ride trying to stop it from highway speeds.
