But then you miss the ride through the Salt River. It's all good in Arizona. In some places, one can almost see Randolph Scott riding his horse up in the rocks.

Beautiful country Morenci to Alpine, used to live in that area. Is my arrow still there about 3/4's of the way up?

I rode this pass July south to north, early on ran into gravel on the road near the pits, but didn't last for long so just another obstacle to watch out for. Also hit a heavy down poor with hail, had to stop on top, and yea the temp dropped from the 90's to something in the 70'. But still a great ride, enjoyed the view.

If you are in the Alpine and Springerville area, you would be heading WEST to go to Showlow and Globe. East takes you to New Mexico.
