I got to ride on a little on Route 66 the day, I went to my cousins house in Hampshire IL a little over 500 miles, so when I came back home I decided to ride part of Route 66, I'd always seen it up on the way to his house never been on it, so I rode about 50 miles it was nice and nostalgic. Think I might try to take ride in other parts of the country. Here are some pics.
I've been on parts of it in California and Arizona. Like going back in time. It's cool. Some of the historic buildings are not kept up, actually most, kind of spooky but interesting. Got that classic look and archetecture.
I rode from VA to CA and back in May and we rode as much of RT 66 as possible from Oklahoma to Kingman AZ. We saw the Cadillac Ranch and the Big Texan in Amarillo and then headed west on I-40 and saw a sign for Historic RT 66 and got off at Adrian TX and it just happed to be the mid point between Chicago and Santa Monica 1139 miles each way, that ws pretty cool to be able to take a picture at the exact midway point on the Mother Road.
Another really cool place is Silegman,AZ and you can ride to Kingman,AZthis part of Rt 66 is the longest part you can ride at least west of Ok City that is not all cut up. It's an awesome ride!!!!!!
