Looks like you stopped for gas in Alcester SD? You went through Hawarden which is just to the south of Sioux Center where I live. Your taking a good route. You'll be in the mountains in a few hours now

Yep, it was Alcester. So far staying away from the interstate has made for a great trip.
Today's update will come a little later, but can you say Spearfish Canyon?
Today was awesome. It was cool again, only in the mid 70s most of the day.
I decided not to go through the Badlands and I stead took 34 across to Sturgis. Great road, great scenery a d a great ride.
The wife got stung by a bee, on the neck, as we entered Pierre (sp). After she calmed down we stopped at Petersen Harley / Honda.
Once in Stutgis it was a stop at the Harley store, then lunch at the Iron Horse Saloon.
We headed off to Spearfish, where we are staying, via the scenic route.
After unloading the bike we headed off to ride some of the great roads the Black Hills has to offer. We rode about 120 miles after unpacking.
We made it Wyoming before reversing course. We went back to Deadwood, stopped at the Harley store, walked around, then headed back to Spearfish.
Once in Spearfish we stopped at a pizza place, and over indulged.
Of course all this back and forth to the hotel meant three trips through Spearfish Canyon. I could have rode it three more times.
Tomorrow we head to Cody Wyoming. I really want to ride Chief Joseph Hwy and Beartooth Pass.
Only in the 60s, brr. Beautiful scenery. Love the emptiness. Beerthirty. Wyoming. South Dakota. Deadwood. Dinner spor. 309 miles, hotel to hotel...the rest was just for fun.
What the Canadian said, a drink at the Irma after the gunfight in the street. I also recommend finding a place that makes Buffalo ribeye!!!!! First time I had it was in Cody, I have been hooked since. Carry on, great pics for the rest of us at WORK.
