I have done a lot of riding, but never set out just in a general direction. I guess I need to try it sometime. Have fun, enjoy your time off and safe travels. Keep the pics coming.
Don't know what you are missing!! Best ever road trips!
Today was head home day. We headed up to Billings Montana. Once in Billings, our options were limited. Take a couple a three days to get across Montana and North Dakota, or slab it for a day, and use our remaining days in Minnesota, Wisconsin, and possibly Michigan.
We have two weeks off, but 10 days was the goal, when we sat out, especially since the wife had never done more than 3. So far she's doing great. She does want to spend a few days with our daughters, before we head back to work, and they head off to college.
I hated turning towards home today. It felt as if the trip was already over. I had to remind myself it wasnt.
We are headed into Minnesota tomorrow. Saturday I may head over to Lake Superior, since the wife hasn't been there and I love it there.
Another cool morning. I'm going to miss those. Ready for the long journey across Montana. Lunch. We won't be doing that again. I did kind of enjoy running 80 though.
Looks like you had a great trip, and got to enjoy some of the incredible weather yesterday. We rode from West Glacier to Helena, it was never over maybe 80 deg and there was not a cloud in the sky anywhere. Just an awesome day. Safe travels home.
Northern Minnesota is a beautiful place to tour on a motorcycle, lots to see!
If you happen to be in Duluth/Superior and it’s time to have a bite to eat, The Anchor Bar in Superior is a somewhat interesting eatery. No heath conscious eating there just in case you’re on a special diet!
If you are interested in seeing lake traffic at the Duluth lift bridge this might help coordinate those efforts.
Those are grain elevators and mean you have found a town. Doesn't always mean it has gas or food though!
True that. I did have an OS moment once out in the middle of nowhere, and realized I was low on fuel. Stopped at a farm just hoping to get directions to the nearest fuel station. The gentleman had fuel on site, instead of a gallon or so like I offered to buy, he just filled it up and refused payment.
I'm about sick of hotels. The riding I can handle, the hotels, not so much.
I'll be sad when our trip is over, but I'll be happy to be back in my bed.
Ya, it gets old after a while, no matter how nice the Motel/hotel is.... it is one of the reasons I am going to do the tent thingy on my next ride. One thing is that in a tent I am always awake at daybreak, because of no curtains.... It takes me 20 minutes to set camp, and about 10 to break... and because of no TV, I will be doing other things than laying on a bed and watching Seinfeld reruns.
Back in 2016 a buddy and were headed back from Colorado, I was in need of fuel, missed my exit, oh well, I still have 20 miles left before LO comes on.
Lo came on and we went a bit before we hit an exit with a station. We exited, pulled in, no gas!
I think I put in 5.8 gallons just down the road a bit....like 10 miles.
