While this is definitely for a good cause, I bet the AMVETS who are now replacing the Rolling Thunder ride could easily organize a 3 mile parade and smash this potential new record.
Actually, I just sent them an email message proposing just that idea. Curious to see what they say.
The problem is not getting enough people/bikes, it is the strict rules and procedures that have to be followed in order to qualify that is the problem - it takes massive organization to pull it off.

It looks like they are much more organized this year. I am sure they have learned from each previous attempt.
Anyone from Northern CA planning on participating? I'm thinking about it (I know it's getting late to decide). Bike needs some basic maintenance before departing if I were to attend (approx. 1700 miles one way). Hotel rooms are hard to come by in Paris TX, looking in towns close by. A lot of obstacles to go, but doable.
Going to take the ride out to Paris TX. Got no hotel reservations, just going to wing it. Trip out look for me on I40 going through AZ, NM, & TX. I'm going to try for 3 days (approx. 600 miles/day) but have an extra day just in case. Let's hope we break the record.
Return trip got more time. Looking to hit some bucket list items. Cadillac Ranch, Million Dollar Hwy (weather permitting), Four Corners.
Headed out from northern NV tomorrow morning. We got three bikes going. Preregistered and have camp spot reserved at KRiver. Doing the parade then spending a week riding around the area. Going to be nice riding in different terrain for a change.
Theres about 10 of us Leaving Tulsa OK Saturday morning at 5am. Couldn't find hotel except for saturday night so we'll be staying for the paris hd party.
Watch the parade live https://www.facebook.com/myparistexas/videos/406648046663619. It's about half over now.
A few friends of mine are there and said they've unofficially announced over 4000 bikes.
