We are finally making the trip. Room is booked close to Pentagon, so we can lineup and walk back to room. Any other suggestions?
Sure you can walk in and out of the Pentagon Parking lot.
Other suggestions, bring water, bring an umbrella for shade, maybe a small folding chair or stool. None of which you will need if you are walking back to your hotel room.
I work within sight of the Pentagon and volunteer every year.
And just a small point. It's not Rolling Thunder anymore, that name is trademarked by Rolling Thunder Inc. It is now called Rolling To Remember.
If you are an American Legion member or an American Legion Rider check out Post 177 in Fairfax, VA. We host riders from around the country and have stuff going on all weekend.
Thank you for the information. We have everything we need for the day or the ride, and we have heard a few stories about the heat etc etc during the lineup times.
You are correct about the name change, however not many recognize that name yet.
Last but not least, Thank You for volunteering your time for a great reason/service/cause.

Well if you are just going with the general crowd, you need to line up about 7 AM to get even a halfway decent spot. You could head out to Fairfax and join Patriot Harley Davidson for the "Ride of the Patriots" They don't leave until 9AM and have reserved parking in the Pentagon lot, puts you a little closer to the front. The Rolling to Remember ride doesn't start until noon, and it can take over 4 hours to empty the lot, so you have several hours in the Pentagon parking lot depending upon where you are parked and when you got there. It can be a long hot day. usually the fire department has a truck spraying water and there are Christian motorcycle groups handing out water and PBJ sandwiches. Lots of expensive food to by from food trucks.
I understand sir, great advice, and much appreciated. We booked the hotel as close as we could get to the Pentagon as we plan to place the bikes in the Pentagon parking lot as soon as it opens the morning of the ride.

I think that's a really good plan. Probably paying a bit more for the hotel room, and it's not really an option for me, but if it's 95 Degrees and humid or pouring rain you will be comfortable in your hotel room.
If you got any questions about the area, or need anything while you are up here hit me up. I'm 27 miles west of the Pentagon, have truck, trailer, bike lift, tools, ect ...
Yeah as mentioned 2019 was the last year for "Rolling Thunder". I understand there will still be some groups riding there but I doubt there will be anything at the Pentagon. That was part of the issue amoug others that caused RT to pull out. RT is now doing localized runs across the US. Here in NC it will be based out of Fayetteville.

Not true.
Amvets has taken over from Rolling Thunder an now calling it Rolling to Remember . They will be in the Pentagon parking lot again. They will have speakers down on the mall. There is a new route for the ride that will go past the White House.

I wanted to take off work and go up last year until I found out about that part. That doesn't sound like a good time at all
