Do you have the information on where you rented the bike? I would like to do this at some point. Were there any issues going back and forth the Swiss Italian border?

Last time we rode in Europe was 2005 or '06, we flew into Florence, Italy. Dealership was a 2 minute taxi ride from airport. Picked up bike, left suitcase we used on the plane with the dealership, and went to Tuscany for a week. Came back, put all of our gear back in the suitcase and then the guys at the dealership dropped us off at the airport. Language was a bit of an issue at dealership, their English was Ok, my Italian sucks, but we made it work and the wife and I had an amazing week in Italy. We picked Florence because the dealership was so convenient to the airport. In 2002 all the border crossings in Europe were like crossing a State line with just a sign, except Switzerland into Italy, that was still manned with soldiers etc. But that was 18 years ago. Ciao.
