I have an XM receiver. My problem is I keep it in my pocket, so no signal....I just use the mp3 player feature. But bar mounted, it should be good.

Go for the tunes bro! I put my xm unit on my seat, pluged in to a quick dis conect at my belt and my helmet, conectted to these bad *** Bose headphones stuff up in my oversized helmet. And Jamed on..!!!!!!!!!!!!

Also ran into one of those ........ that had nothing better to do. Wanted to know why I was riding 45 in a 55 mph zone. I told him I was jamm to Fog Hat, Slow Ride, and just settling in for my enjoyment of my next tank of gas. Besides, Him and I were the only ones on the road for at least 30 mins. He told me to ride safe and enjoy. Not all Police Officers are out to just write tickets.
Be safe bro and Ride Free !

Prior to the UC, I had a RK and on longer rides, I used an I-pod. Even cranked up nearly all the way, I was still able to hear road noise around me. In town, where things were quieter, I had to turn the Ipod down to hear road sounds, but I personally didnt see what the issue is.

Ya can't wear headphones, but you can ride in a car that is equipped with an a/c fan that blows, a factory radio that will make your ears ring, and enuff sound deadening material to completely block the sounds of the outside world. Doesnt make sense.

I've gotmy Stiletto 100 attached w/ velcro to my handlebar mounted Kuryakyn universal mount http://www.kuryakyn.com/products.asp...ey&ci=3802. I put the mount in the center of my handlebars. I'm not using a docking station, but I do have the semi-transparent case for the radio. The Stiletto comes with two batteries because when listening to satellite the larger one will only last about 4 hours. It will last about 14 hours when listening to the tunes stored in memory. Reception is excellent on open roads;trees overhanging the road will cause the signal to come and go occasionally. I got a low battery message one time so I switched over to stored songs in memory and it kept on playing. This winter I may wire it into my bike's battery. I also ran an extension cable under the tank so I can plug my wrap around ear buds in at the front of the seat instead of having the wire flopping around over the tank. The main two complaints I have with the Stiletto is that changing channels is challenging (unless the road is very smooth) because it has the thumbwheel similar to an ipod, and the display is somewhat difficult to read in the bright sun.

I wish I had better earphones, maybe some that mount in the helmet's ear pocket instead of hanging on my ears. Any recommendations?

These are 96 bones but I bet my bike on em! These do not slip out of the ear and pipe the tunes right down the aureal canal!!! Yes, its not cheap but they stand behind their product 110%. Make sure you ask for the ones with the 1/8" headphone jacks. The foam portion compresses into the ear and expands to block out road noise. Use em with the iPod!!!

DOH, forgot linky: http://www.cep-usa.com/

I use my ipod while riding. For a good pair of headohones, get a pair called scull candy. They are ear puds that go far into your ear. You will hear little if any wind noise. They are very comfortable. I would bag the satalite and load up an ipod! LOL

So, on my last bike, (86 Grand Touring Edition - FXRD-TL) I had stashed the Sirius radio into the side compartment on the fairing, powered it up off the lights for gauges, it had a built in FM transmitter, so once I found the station (the display on the '86 radio did not work), I fixed the station on one of the buttons, magnetic mount antenna on the gas tank, and radio all the way. It is (was great). Right up until the old bike radio finally gave up the ghost. So since I can't sing worth a lick, I finally bought a new satellite ready radio (belongs in a car, but what the heck, who cares?) some slight dash modifications later, and wham, working radio. Bought the satellite adapter, new magnetic mount antenna, and the thing sounds great... all the way from Atlanta, GA to Dallas, TX. (May of '07) one radio station all the way. (that trip is a whole entire different story), anyway... traded the bike (exttremly unexpectedly)for an '07 UC while in Texas, and now I can't stand being without my Sirus... The bride and I are planning a trip up the Blue Ridge Parkway mid October '07 for our 25th anniversary. We plan on buying the XM chip before we leave. I hate changing stations, trying to find some good old fashion classic rock. Satellite radio is the way to go. It is worth the 12 bucks a month. We have it in her car also. We don't leave home without it... Scott & Sheila.

I recently put a SIRIUS Starmate 4 receiver on a mounting plate below the tach on my 2001 Police Road King, used a Uniquecycle speaker setup and with teh windshield in place, can hear quite well at 80 mph..my speakers are on handlebars so it may depend on where you mount them..Went riding in N ga mtns yesterday with my wife to take advantage of some absolutely beautiful weather and rode back the whole way listening to the New Hampshire race..gotta love satellite radio!

I posted some photos earlier in a different forum, but if interested, be glad to send some better ones..
