It's been about 10 years since I last rode Skyline Drive. I forgot how beautiful this ride is. And the road is in terrific condition. Here are a few pictures:
Beautiful photos. I love that area of Virginia. For many decades we held family reunions at Pinnacles picnic area. We're going to do that again later this year or next year. I'd love to ride it again.
The last time we (the wife and I) attempted to do the ride in '08 or '09 from Front Royal, VA to Asheville, NC we got caught in some bad weather and it took us 5-1/2 hours just to do the 105 mile Sky Line Drive to Waynesboro, VA!
We "threw in the towel" and took the freeway to Gastonia in the pouring rain!
Always check the weather forecast.....especially when riding in the mountains!
Great pics , thanks for posting.
We’re hoping to get down to Front Royal this October and ride Skyline to the BRP. Recently rode in Maggie Valley, Asheville and Floyd Va all great riding roads but never Skyline .
Any recommendations as to hotels/ motels and any other roads to ride in the Front Royal area would be appreciated.
