Brings back memories of my trip to Death Valley a few years ago. We too had a little rain and heavy snow up on a mountain. It is a very beautiful place and much different from MN!
We went to Beatty, NV to buy some food while staying in the park. Oh man, I didn’t know places like that existed. That’s a town nobody should be relinquished to. Only food in town was at a Dollar General. Nearest real grocery store was in Parhump. 100 miles away or something like that.

… if you want to go to somewhere where there is nothing… Go to Baker, California… At least Beatty had motels… I got gas in Beaty on the way into death Valley in ‘017…
… I was in Palm Springs in ‘016 and the plan was to ride up through Joshua tree, the Mojave and through death Valley on the way back to British Columbia… I got to Baker California and there wasn’t a motel in the place… So I ended up riding to Vegas and staying there…
Been through a few times, one year it was only 63 degrees on Memorial day weekend.
Coming out of the Pacific NW that year trying to find some sun and get out of the rain with 4 days to play.
That was the warmest it got all weekend.
On another trip I saw 125 degrees and had to put my leathers on to keep from getting fried.
A little warm a couple years ago in the 90s but smoke in the air from fires in the Sierras.
We took a "day trip" over there last February. The primary destination was Ballarat CA but by the time we were done there it was pushing 6pm so we got a room in Ridgecrest. Lack of preparation meant we had to run to a local Dollar General to get some basics (toothbrushes, underwear, etc.). The next day we rode back and through DVNP, weather was beautiful that time of year. We came out on the east, had some lunch and a couple drinks at a place on the outskirts of Pahrump that doesn't appear to be on the map anymore and then through Las Vegas and back home.
Edit: I was looking at the wrong road into Pahrump, the place we stopped was called THE HUBB Bar & Grill on Bell Vista Rd.
