Northern California in May means maybe it will rain or maybe it won’t. I woke up this morning to the sound of rain. ****. I piddled around hoping the weather would clear up, it didn’t. If anything, the clouds got darker and the temperature freakin dropped. If I wanted to get out of the gloom, I needed to find the sunshine. So I got my **** together, as much as I could, and hit the road.
I travel for food. When time is short and I get a hankering for a good burger there are 3 places I like, No brand Burgers in Ferndale (to close), the Peg House in Leggett (ate there last week), and The Chimney Tree in Phillipesville. I called The Chinmey Tree just to make sure it was open. Before heading off to eat, I needed to say howdy to a friend and finish an inspection for work above Rio Del.
I am naming these places because most people that travel along the 101 in Humboldt County will see the signs for most of these places and never venture off the main drag to experience what the Redwood forest has to offer.
It took about 30 miles to get out of the fog bank. It turned out to be a beautiful day. FYI, 10$ at the Chimney Tree gets you a big *** burger, too many frie, and potatoe salad.
