Me and the Mrs just got in the door.
Made it home safe, but, we are pretty well beat.
We did it.A ride I have looked forward to for some time now.
We rode two up in allthe lower 48 States.
The ride stated and ended in New Hampshire.
The total mileage we logged on was 10,146.
Less than 0ne thousand miles was onInterstate Hyway.
We were on the road 34 days.
Never made a single reservation
Lost count, butrode in 6 plus National Parks.
Countless National Forests and State Parks.
US routes and State and County roads thru rural America
Senic routes were the goal of this trip, and had to flip a coin a few times.
We rode within 5 miles of Mexico and within 5 miles of Canada.
Scorching heat of 120 degrees in Death Valley and the Great Basin.
Low 40's on top of the peaks of Bear Tooth Pass as it went from day light to darkness. (I'm going back to that67 mile stretch of beauty.)
Pounding rain for days on end and got caught in the flood of Northern Central States of MN, MI, and OH.
Got a rear flat while in the flood zone in Ohio. Managed to ride her into the shop. Got the new sneaker and back on the road.
Had to detour around a forest fire in Libby Montana as we headed for Glacier National Park.
Lost my oil pumpat Sturgis and had it repaired at Black Hills HD in Rapid City, SD.
Got a speeding ticket in AR. I was going 47 mph in a 45 zone. LEO gave me a ticket that says I was doing 60 mph. I said , "Thank You." (I have to call tomorrow to find out how much that will set me back. What gets me is a lot of these little towns moan and groan that people take the Intersate and bypass the local commerce of their community. But at the same time justify giving bogus tickets to out of town/state folks that happen into town. This ticket would never have been given on an Interstate.
Now, I'm going to sit down and relax and let it all sink in.
Off the cuff conclusion;
I don't like the desert andheat much
I don't like raods that are straight as an arrow for miles and miles
and I still don't like Winnabago's that ride ahead of me on nice twisty's
What a trip.
I still can't remember all the bestthings.
But I'll add as I remember
That's very cool! You're very lucky! I hate to admit to the green monster, but maybe I'm not the only jealous one out here! Hopefully, they'll be time for that one day Bet your own bed feels like heaven. . .
Glad you made it back home o-k Sam. Were your ears burning yesterday??? I was telling a friend about this trip you were on and wondering if you had made it back yet. Awesome trip you and your wife did,,,, wish I could have been with you,,,, I think,,,, y'all made an average of nearly 300 miles a day,,,, iron butts I don't think,,,, I'm going to name y'all titanium butts the strongest of all. Did Delta go on the ride with you or was it just you and the little lady? I think I'm going to nominate you for rider of the year here at HDF, a true biker and a really great friend and person to know.
