Road Trip through US - Planning
I'm planning a two month roadtrip through the US for my 50th birthday, riding a new-ish Harley Sportster. I have a few ideas:
1. Vancouver to San Diego
2. Seattle to San Diego
2. Route 66
3. Maine to Florida Keys
I live in Europe, I have travelled to and seen many US cities including Portland, Los Angeles, Miami, New York, Chicago, Atlanta. Been riding motorcycles since 1996.
The plan is to go to the US, buy the Harley, drive through the country, sell the bike, and then travel back home.
Let me know your thoughts, ideas, recommendations, or other comments. I'm open for suggestions!

Be sure to make your next new post over in the new member welcome area to say hello.
Keep in touch with pictures for us too.
My only suggestion and for sure only an opinion is buy a bigger touring Harley, with cruise control with bags and trunk.
Now my friend has a Sportster he has had since new with 147,000 miles on it.
But he also has a Indian that I see him on more and more.

have you inquired about a long term rental? You would have to register a bike and pay taxes plus insurance without having a US address or license is going to be an issue.

That probably a very good idea. I sure would check that out.
Buying a Harley for two months would be a nightmare to most. Or a third party expense if you went that way.
Not even sure how a non resident could register it in the two states I live in.

The Best of Harley-Davidson for Lifelong Riders
I'd be looking at something bigger than a Sportster, not that it can't be done but a Road King or better yet Electra Glide/Street Glide bagger with give more comfort and lockable storage.
I do a big trip every summer with the wife on board, here's my setup.
