Helen Side Effects for NC Business
I enjoy spending my few dollars on "Mom and Pop" places, such as the San Ran Motel. When I arrived the owner confided in me that Helene had really hurt his business! This was my fifth stay at his Motel since April.
Next Day did a short 250 mile ride to the Dragon, Cherohala Skyway, 28 south to Franklin, NC and return via Wayah rd.
I guess the point of my post is the business' are still hurting. I even bought a few snaps from Killboy Photos. There is some severe damage as we all know in NC.... BUT there is still some wonderful places to ride in NC/TN & GA that were not damaged! These rides have not been effected, although
business is hurting. Ride safe everybody. A quick edit When I left the hotel it was 34 degrees but quickly warmed up. I rode through the dragon at 9:10 am. I noticed on Killboys photo site that it was 61 minutes before another touring bike came through. Not many out riding early.

We were planning to be in Maggie Valley this weekend for the Wheels Through Time event. The motel we like to stay at sent a 10% off offer. However unexpected issues with our house have required us to be home.
Ride safe and thanks for the update.
From Marion NC west to Asheville and north to Johnson City TN was the most adversely affected and is still in the recovery phase. It was just earlier this week that many parts of Asheville got their drinking water restored.
The Harley dealer in Swananoa is still closed.
Hot Springs NC to Newport TN is still a mess. There are no businesses open in Hot Springs right now.
Old Fort is slowly recovering but nothing open yet.
Burnsville is hit and miss as well as Spruce Pine.
Mars Hill Is good but many roads near there are still closed.
Hwy 80 from Marion to Burnsville is open but is one lane in many areas from the Buck Creek Trout Farm to the Blue Ridge Parkway.
Here is a video I took of 80 last Saturday heading south from the Parkway to the Trout Farm.
