Default Tent Suggestions

Curious if anyone has experience with packing a small tent on their bike for moto-camping, been all over the internet and overwhelmed with what Amaazon offers so I thought Id drop a thread here and see what good/bad info I can obtain from people with moto-camping experience.

Thanks in advance... Cheers!

Nice imagine if you had a tour pack you can fit double the load.

I do have a Tour Pack but only use it if I have to. Long trips where I need fresh clothing.

I prefer to buy quality tents. I just replace my 30+ year old tent with a Kelty Day Dreamer 4 person tent for my solo camping. That allows me to sleep a bit longer in the daylight. And reduces heat inside the tent. I always use a footprint for my tents. I have also used a drop cloth when camping out west on rocky/desert ground. My hybrid air mattress replaced my tent cot. All my camping gear fits in my canvas flight bag that then sit on my back seat.

If wife is camping with me, then I take the TimeOut. I will take my TimeOut when solo if I feel like it. But at times I do not want to drag a trailer.

I have a 8 year old version of this tent. It's held up well and keeps me dry. It's not the smallest or lightest but like I said, it keeps me dry.

Don't go cheap, avoid the Walmart junk. Get one a little bigger than you think you need so you have room for boots, jacket, and other gear inside. Set it up at home at least once before your trip, so you know how to do it in the dark if you have to. Throw away the cheap, aluminum tent stakes that come with many tents, get some heavy-duty stakes that won't bend the first time you use them.

I have 2 I use, both are Alps Mountaineer lightweight backpack tents, Lynx 1 and a Lynx 2 which is about the same just twice as wide as a little taller. Space is a premium on the Dyna especially 2 up.

Anyone use the USMC 2 man combat tent?

Or is that overkill?

The Military ICS just seems a bit small
