First trip this year on my 07 Road King (and my first Harley).
Left from Ottawa, Ontario on Monday and followed 2 lane roads along Lake Ontario to Oswego, New York and then south to Watkins Glen and into Pennsylvania. Stopped at Falling Water just southeast of Pittsburg and then down into West Virginia and across to Staunton, Virginia. Back up along Skyline Drive (extremely boring) and into Gettysburg and back home.
The mountain run east from West Virginia to Virginia was amazing. 100 miles of nothing but corners and up and over mountains with little towns thrown in along the way. In my opinion much better than the "scenic" Skyline Drive with its $10 admission and 35mph speed limit.
During the course of the 1800+ miles in 5 days we managed to keep the Interstate travel to under 40 miles.
Congrats, sounds like a fun trip. Theres nothing that can compare to a trip on a motorcycle. After my first trip I found myself planning the next one and so on and so on.
Just for a day trip to do. Leave your place and ride down through Smith Falls to Athens then to Charleston. Have lunch at the Dockside. The food at the Dockside Inn restaurant is great. There is some fine scenery along those roads. Go a little further to Lyndhurst and check out the oldest stone bridge in use in Ontario.
