Group vs. Solo
Ouch Brian! Why didnt someone just kick the "non mechanic guy" into traffic or something and get on down the road? That would be more than my short patience could take. After breakdown #2 I probably would have left the group and headed out on my own. I would like to make that run some time though. I got to see the traveling wall last year and it really choked me up. I dont know anyone on that wall and I still got pretty watery eyed just looking at it. Viet Nam vets have my thanks and greatest appreciation. Anytime you see a vet, thank them. I do.
I love riding with my friends and do so when I can. I guess the real me is a lone wolf, much of the time. Two years ago, I left my driveway not knowing where I was going to ride for the next week. What a great feeling!! I covered 500 plus miles my first day. Ate when "I" wanted to eat, turned when "I" wanted to turn, saw sites "I" wanted to see, slept where"I" wanted to sleep, you get the picture. six days and 3200 miles later I was back in the drive and ready to go on with the challenges life presents us. Solo can be very good.

Believe me, kicking him into traffic was considered. I didn't split mainly because I was riding with people that were more patient than I was, and didn't want to seem like the one jerk that split (though I did voice some displeasure, to say the least). I will not make that mistake again, that's for sure.
The Run to the Wall is definitely impressive. Quite a few people there, and a great ride through D.C. on the Sunday before Memorial Day. Remember your helmet, though. DC and most of the surrounding states require them.
