Today I got back from a little road trip to Phoenix, AZ. I rode out there on Wednesday, it was beutiful, weather and all. I stayed out there for a couple days and rode back today. Wet and cold! I arrived home, in San Luis Obispo, CA this afternoon. My bike is dirty, dirty, dirty. One thing I did to the bike for this trip I thought I would pass on. I changed the oil to synthetic in all three holes. I have heard everything from it lowers temps to quiets the engine to increases mileage. The bottom line, it does not lower temps at all! It is not quieter at all! It does seem to shift a little smoother! I also believe at high temps that synthetic holds up better. Also my mileage was exactlly the sae as before. After 10,000 miles my mileage is something I have figured out "to the Tee" Anyway the trip was great all in all. It was about time I got to put some good miles on her. Well it's time to wash the beast down and clean the bugs off the leathers.
Glad you had a good time on the scoot[8D]
I also don't think a person can tell the syn oil lowers the temps. on their bike[sm=dontgetit.gif]
If a person can, well, their a better man than me
Hey I'm not knocking syn oils. I believe they protect better at high temps. But when I heard lower temps. I got curious. How can it lower temps? Unless it lubed so much better that there was no friction the temps should be the same. To verify the oil temp probe I put it in boiling H2O. H2O boils at 212f on a standard day. The guage shows 212. So I changed the oil to syn and went on the ride. Like I said it does seem to shift smoother, but no noticebale noise difference and no lower temps. Just what I found not calling all of you who see lower temps liars.
