If I were to do it (first of all don't know where in AZ you are), but back to the answer. Up Wickenburg Highway US 93 from Phoenix to I-40 east of Kingman. Find/Take Old 66 far as you can into Barstow CA, get on CA 58 over to US 395, and head north on 395, boring at first, but once you start into the foothills of the Sierra's - incredible scenery. There's some alternates to getting to 395 via Vegas, for example, NV 160 thru Pahrump through Death Valley up to 190, then west to 395.Another idea, via Vegas, is the desert route up highway US 95. Pull up Vegas on google maps, zoom out and look at some of the alternate routes. Anything going over the east front range of the sierras from W. Nevada you can't go wrong. As I remember it not a lot of traffic, nice curves, but very sparsely populated. Wish I were going with you, but alas, I'm an Arizonan stationed in VA for now.One of these days. Good Luck.

The western side of the Sierra's Hwy. 49) is a great ride. Tehn cross back over on 108 or 88 to 395. Lot's of twisties, history and scenery.

Done both 395 in California and 266/95 in Nevada. Preferred the 395 scenery, and more places to stop. Be careful about running Arizona and Nevada in the summer, gets kinda HOT!

Which part of Arizona? If, by chance, you're coming from the east then there is no doubt the route through southern Utah will be a great shot. Come in from Page, AZ, and run through the Grand Staircase, Zion National Park, and on to Dixie National Forest (Cedar City), before going into Nevada for Panaca, Pioche, Great Basin National Park and across on the World's Loneliest Highway.

Thanks guys for the info, much appreciate it, we will be leaving from the Phoenix area, and are seasoned Arizona riders so very familiar with the "heat" issue and take the proper precautions.
