Could I get some help on the best riding routes from the Deals Gap - Cherokee area, to Myrtle Beach. I have never been through that area and need all the help I can get.
From the Cherokee area take 19/23 to I40 East. Exit I40 on to I26 East. Near Columbia SC take I 20 east to I95 near Florence. Take I-95 North to Hwy 327. Follow 327 to the end and turn left on Hwy 76. Hwy 76 will turn in 576 and then run into Hwy 501. That will carry you in to the center of Myrtle Beach. If you are going to the north end take Hwy 22 near Conway. If you are going to the south end that a right on Hwy 544 after you cross Lake Busbee. That is the fastest route. If you want a more scenic route let me know. I travel to both of those areas quite frequently.
If you are leaving the Deal's Gap area you can either take 28 at the intersection near the store on the NC side of Deals Gap or you can follow 129 to Robbinsville and then cut across to 28. Follow 28 to 64 and take it east. If you are leaving Cherokee I would take either 441 or 19 out of Cherokee to 23. I would follow 23 south to 64. Highway 64 will take you through Brevard and Hendersonville. Continue on 64 through Hendersonville to Bat Cave. Take a right on 64 and follow it through Chimney Rock and LAke Lure. Take a right on Hghway 9. Stay on Highway 9 through Boiling Springs and into Spartanburg. Take a left onto Pine Street or 176. Follow that through Spartanburg to Pacolet and take a left on Highway 9. Follow Highway 9 to Chester SC and take a right on the By-pass or 321. Take a right back on Highway 9 toward Lancaster, SC. Take the By-pass Highway 9 and continue to Hwy 151. Take 151 South east. Watch the little town of Mcbee. It tends to be a spped trap. Continue on 151 to Hwy 52. Stay on 52 through FLorence to Hwy 301. 301 will turn into 76 or 576. Stay on it to 501. 501 will come out in the middle to Myrtle Beach. This is a pretty long ride from Deals Gap. If you don't mind interstate you can pick up I40 and then I26 out of NC and pick 176 up near Spartanburg. The route I set uf for you is a good ride. I livenorth of Spartanburg and ride to Myrtle Beach often down highway 9 and I frequent the Cherokee / Deals Gap area a lot as well. Loof this route over and if you see another route you like better, give me a shout and I will let you know what to expect.
