Wednesday I decided to ride to Albuquerque to see the Grandkids. Checked the weather and everything looked good. Rode down in mid 40's with clear skys.
Next morning I get ready to leave and find that the weather has changed with snow forcast. Rode home in the mid to low 30's with snow flurries about every 30 miles. Luckily none of the snow was sticking, and the temps were not low enough to cause icing.
Got home okay, just took about 3 hours to get warmed up.
It had just been so long since I had been able to ride, and the weather was so good when I left. Sometimes there is just some bad with the good. The return trip wasn't real pleasant, but the overall experience was good none the less.
Wow, snow in AZ!?! Where I live in AZ, ain't no snow. Glad to hear that you made it back without any real problems...I'm guessing you're headed out to find some better cold weather gear?
We're in New Mexico, about 50 miles South of the Southern Colorado Rocky Mountains. We have had snow and rain all winter, but the forcast was for some good weather, so I headed out.
All of Az. is not like were you are. We went through Flagstaff one year coming back from Laughlin, and there was 2' of snow on the ground and snowing hard. We warmed up in Flag, and got off of the mountain before getting snowed in. We woke up one morning in Flag. on the way to Laughlin, and there was 12" of snow on the ground. We had to wait until about noon when the highways got cleared before we could go on to Laughlin.
Just think, without weather, idiots in cars pulling out in front of us, wild animals on the road, girls in thong bikinis, and numerous other little things, we wouldn't have any adventures to talk about. Got to love the Harley experience.
