best route
From the Grand Canyon I would recommend taking the 89 up to Highway 12 in Utah (right outside of Panguitch) through Bryce Canyon NP. Highway 12 is the only "All American Road" in the State of Utah. Take the 12 to the 24 which goes through Capitol Reef NP and then over to Arches NP. This route is roughly 550 miles.
I agree with drfeelgood on 12 and 24. If it was me i would do a big circle.......do the southern rim of the grand canyon and go to vegas by way of hoover dam.....come out of vegas and go through the zion national park and then towards bryce canyon(89/12). 12/24 til hanksville...fuel up...head to the hiway and down 191towards moab. Where 12/24 meet the is a great days inn in torrey. And before you get to torrey make sure you do the burr trail in boulder utah. You will have to turn around because of gravel but trust me and do this road even though it a little out of the way. The ride thru escalante will be one of the best days of you life. What ever way you go.......have a great time!!!
