Your input is would be appreciated if you have ridden this loop out of Cooke City starting at 6am.
Cooke City over Cheif Joseph Hwy., 120 to Belfry, 308 through Beartooth to Red Lodge. Beatooth Hwy back down to Cooke City.
Google says 4hrs (without stops) - is that reasonable to plan on ? I will assume we will see more traffic going back to Cooke City ?
Thanks in advance for your input
It's a windy twisty hilly ride but sounds about right. \\; From cooke city you could go to Cody Wy, and on over the Big Horn Mtns back to Sheridan Wy, is a great ride. \\; Stop in Thermopolis Wy for a good soak in the natural hot springs. \\; Just a thought.
If your in a hurry, take 212 to Chief Joseph, ride to the top, then go back to 212 and ride to the top of Beartooth. I've ridden your route a couple of times, Chief Joseph and Beartooth are the scenic spots for sure. I can't imagine not stopping at the top of either of these, few places compare. I would plan on using a little more time. You will need a camera and a jacket. 308 is pale compared to the 2 above.
Schoney mentioned the Bighorn Mnts. Hwy 14 is good, but Alt 14 is my favorite. \\; Excellent elevation and great views when climbing and desending.  \\;
Just did that ride over the weekend. Gas in Cooke City was $4.90 for premium. About the same at Painter's Store.
This was a poker run, and with lunch, took about 6 hours.
Beartooth HD is in Billings (main)-Cody-Red Lodge. Same owner and one of the better HD dealerships in the country.
Not much going on Sturgis week. Beartooth Rally was last weekend. Two Mile Music Fest is this weekend.
