Just to let every one now, on my way to sturgis this year I was stoped in Grand Island NE. and forced to buy a DOT approved helmet from the lockal H.D. dealer. So if your going that way go around Grand Island. And it wasn't just me all the way to sturgis every time we stoped talked to someone with two helmets too. the kicker is we always go that way and stop for (gas, food or motel) but no more.
All of Nebraska is a "helmet state" - Nebraska Motor Vehicle law Section 60-6,279 statesâŚâA person shall not operate or be a passenger on a motorcycle or moped on any highway in this state unless such person is wearing a protective helmetâŚsaid helmet must meet or exceed the standards established in the United States Department of Transportation's Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard No. 218, 49 C.F.R. 571.218, for motorcycle helmets.â
Let me guess your a cop? And I now NE. is helmet state but I've traveled all over the country with my none DOT helmet with out any problems. Just got back from riding the west coast highway no problems. Even talked to a C.H.I.P in California never said a word about me or my wife's none DOT's. And I go through \\; GA. on my way to FL. no problems.
This was just to let every one now to avoid Grand Island unless you wear a DOT helmet. And the helmet was $42.00 and the ticket was $75.00 plus court cost. Didn't mean to start an thing.

Just trying to warn people, File this under "No good deed goes unpunished"
So you are upset that you got caught breaking the law? I guess I do not understand why you are so upset when you know that states that require a helmet require a DOT approved helmet, not a joke non approved helmet.
No, I am not a cop before you say that, I just do not understand the gripe is all.
