We left TN in 40 degree weather and landed in Cedar Key in 75 degree and sunny weather. We took Hwy. 411 from East Tennessee to I-75 at Cartersville, GA, I-75 to Cordele, GA. Then, took U.S. Hwy. 19 on into Florida. The roads were dry with light traffic, except in the Atlanta area. Once at my buddy’s place in Cedar Key we settled into eating fresh seafood and island hopping.
The weather was supposed to take a turn for the worse the day after our departure from Cedar Key, so we left at day break and ran 400 miles up Hwy. 19 toward home ending up just northwest of Atlanta. Once again the following day, we got up early and punched it home the next day. The rains hit in the afternoon while I was unloading my gear and dirty laundry. All in all it was a great trip and as always the miles and time just melt away when riding my scoot.
Hope you snow bound folks escape soon.
Next trip – The Nathez Trace Parkway to New Orleans for the Jazz Festival in May.
I am planning on riding the Natchez Trace in early June. I would be very interested in any feedback on your trip in May. I will be ending my June trip in Yankeetown, FL. just south of Cedar Key.
