Default New Jersey?

We are thinking about exploring the New Jersey coast this summer. Heading up from Virginia Beach through Maryland's eastern peninsula.

Any recommendations for roads, traffic and sites to see would be helpful. Thanks.

chesapeake bay bridge is a must
The ocean drive from Cape May to Atlantic City is beautiful, but the tolls are a pain in the a**
There's a ferry that runs from Cape May to Lewes, DE

A stop in Chincoteague Va would be a good stop. There is a National Wildlife refuge there with the wild ponies. Going north you can pick up RT 113 north in Pocomoke if you want to get off RT 13. It ends up going up through to Delaware, there you can pick up Rt 24 and head over to Lewis were the ferry leaves for Jersey. Or you could pick up Rt 90 east off 113 and pick up US 1 and ride up the coast to Lewis, but traffic will be heavy and slower, with all the string bikini's tryin to cross.

You definately have to stop in Cape May, NJ. Lots of nice victorian houses
and downtown area. If your interested in the Coast Guard Training Ctr, you
could call ahead to schedule a tour. I did it last summer. I went through basic
training there over 30 yrs ago. Not much changed. Atlantic City is always a good
place to go.
Enjoy!
