The wife and I are planning a trip to Phoenix from Lancaster, PA with a stop in Lubbock next June. I've never done anything of this magnitude, been on a few overnighters, but nothing like this. I'd like some suggestions/help on what routes to take that'll keep us moving, yet avoid the busy highways. What kind of miles do you think we can expect to get, as long as we're comfortable, on our 2007 EGC in a day?
My wife and I are going to yellowstone in the near future. We plan on doing 400 mile a day. We will leave early in the morning and stop in the mid afternoon and swim. We will stay at hotels out and back. We will travell light. 2 pair of bluejeans and shirts wear them for two day before washing at a motel. We will take the Interstate out for time sake. Stop every 125 miles for gas. You will have a great time. Take rain gear that a given.

Wife and I rode from Texas to Montana, yellowstone, cody, utah and colorado in july last year. Temps ranged from 98 down to 36 in Cody Wy. Rode through rain and sleet in Colorado. We made 300-400 miles a day, took our time and did some sight seeing. Carry your leathers, rain gear, summer and winter gloves. Like Nellybelle, we brought two pair of jeans, 3 shirts and socks. Washed every third day. You will have a great trip. Look forward to seeing some pics.
I have found that the best way to plan is get maps for each individual state and use these sites to mark the best roads. The areas and roads that are must see do in a different color. You will find that you will modify your route as you go because of weather.
Take alot of time in Colorado, southern Utah thru Torry...Bryce Canyon, Zion National Forest to Vegas....southern rim of Grand Canyon....Sedona 89A, 191 east Arizona............
Once you get west of Denver you can be in the mountains for a week.....
Also pick 2 routes, one northern and one southern. If its cool and rainy on the N route you have an alt. one all lined up. Hopefully you will have only blue skies. How far have you and her rode in one day? If your not use to riding LD plan more breaks. Avoid citys during rush hour. Dont get in a hurry. Plan a day or 2 with 0 miles. E-mail every state, tell them you when you will be there, and they will send you maps and stuff to do in their state. Oh, and take pix and post them
