I am looking to get some people together to make a trip to Talladega. Looking for a good route to take staying off the interstates and 4 lanes as much as possible.
We will be leaving from SE Mo but if you know a good route from anywhere around (Paducah, Nashville, Memphis, etc.) I can close the gap.
From Nashville take I65 South to Birmingham , get on I20 east , get off around Leeds , and take Ala 25 to Talladega ( if you're going to the racetrack , there's plenty of road signs to get you there )
Memphis take US78 to Birmingham , get on I65 S , go about two miles and pick up I20 east ..
from either memphis or paducah you go to nashville. its longer but not by much and is a great drive. take i 24 to chattanooga. follow the lookout mountain signs up the mountain and pick up the lookout mountain parkway to desoto falls state park. either go right at the intersection where the parkway ends to pick up the i 59 at fort payne or go left to go to little grand canyon. either way you want to stop at desoto falls. from fort payne take i59w to gadsden. from gadsden, take 431s to i20w. the speedway is right there. if you go to little grand canyon, take 35 (either east or south) to 411. go right to 431s and same-o same-o from there. i'm from carbondale, il and when i moved to birmingham i found that northeastern alabama has some great rides. billy p
