Default Taking a Road trip to N.C.

Greetings,
Planning on taking a Road Trip to N.C. and possibly further down to Tenn. My Co-worker who rides a 2008 Honda Gold Wing wants to take this road trip with me since he's retiring this year. I'am thinking that 6 days should be long enough to make it there and back to south Florida? Of course the Dragon's Tail is on the agenda!

Shouldn't be a problem, especially if you don't mind a few 500+ mile days to get into the NC area. I don't know where in South Florida you are coming from, but it's about 500 miles of interstate from Tampa to Atlanta, and then about 150 miles to the Smokies.

While in the area, be sure to not only ride the Dragon, but also the Cherohala Skyway between Robbinsville and Tellico Plains. The roads inside Great Smoky Mountains National Park demand your attention as well.

The Blue Ridge Parkway south terminus is in Cherokee, NC and it's one of the great roadways in the country - from Cherokee to Mt Pisgah is a great stretch of the Parkway and shouldn't be missed.

Near Tellico Plains is the Cherohala Motorcycle Resort, one of my favorite places to overnight - cabins and tent sites and a really great staff.

Default The Dragon

US 129 (Dragon),Yes it is a fun road but the parkways and skyways are more enjoyable they must have been made for H.D. Try to ride the dragon during a week day. I was just there 4/30/09 not one police car and light traffic compared to the weekend rush. Have fun and ride safe.
