help!
I need help to plan a short 1 day trip I live in west Ga area and its me and wifes 25 anniv. been to cheeha al. and warm springs, may even plan over night but just want something diff. slow curves overhanging trees, with few places to stop at. Any ideas are greatly appreciated.
HHmm been there once , Callaway Gardens over near LaGrange
or maybe Dahlonega ( 285 and get off on Ga 400 around exit 27 or thereabouts ) and the Smith House , great eats there ..

When you going ? According to what part of west ga....I would go to Gainsville via 85 north to 985 north....get off on exit 20......go a few short miles ( 3 or 4 ) and pick up hwy 60 north rough the old section of Gainsville. Hwy 60 is the best road in Georgia as far as curves and mountains...to me anyway..the farther north you get..the better..all the way to Blairsville. Anyway, when you get to Dalonaga on hwy 60, If you dont mind clean and inexpensive, there is a days inn about a mile after you pass the pizza huton the left. We are talking 39 bucks or so. From Dalonega, I would cut over to Helen and be sure to stop off at the Chattanooga Bike Gear leather shops in the back of the main Street. It has several buildings and sells lots of leather, helmets, boots, patches and all that tackey fun stuff. They have a seamstress on duty and is pretty reasonable putting on the patches. Free parking there also for motorcycles only. You can kill a couple of fun hours there. Very touristy. Funnel Cakes and the like. Hotels are very overpriced in Helen..$175 for the same 39 dollar room in Dalonaga, just not as clean. Lots of Trout in the river that runs through the town..easy to catch. Then, follow the signs back to Gainsville/Atlanta..then home. I would make it an over nighter though. My wife and I are making the same trip this week end possibly. Let me know...Might shoot up to Blairsville and then Back down. You have Brasstown Bald Mountain up in that area..Highest point in GA I think..can see a couple states or something. Unicoi State Park. Tallulah Gorge is not far from Helen...That is the deepest Gorge this side of The Grand Canyon..Walenda walked across it in th 70's I think.. ( the tight rope walker )..Was the second most visited Place behind Niagra falls in the 1800's...early 1900's...Until they dammed up the tallulah falls in the 30's or something to that effect. nice 20 minute cigarette break. If you go up that way, 441 south will run into 365 which is an extension of 985 which is an extension of 85. Nice area up there to just Cruise around and take little breaks in Helen, Dalonaga Square,Brassrown Bald, Tallulah Gorge/Falls, and all sorts of Natl Parks I am forgetting about. You will see some Grist Mills, Apple communities, CandleMakers, and all sorts of interesting things to visit up through there...then ride for 20, 30mins and you will come across some other interesting things. Lots of Neat stuff up there. Good luck and congradulations on the rarity of the staying together so long in this day and age !!
We will be heading out depending on weather 1st weekend in june anniv. Is the 8th i love helen we go there all the time but the route you have suggested says good i printed it off and going to take home pass by the boss think it will work good, may take secondary roads as much as possible going up, coming home always running late so will proble run interstate but i sure appreciate the input the more the better you fellers have been a big help.
