Hello Everyone,
Just got back from the Smokies and rode all day in the rain. I had a pair of Frogg Toggs, melted the leg on the muffler. I have never really liked this set of rain gear, always get wet wearing them. What is your recommendations for a good set of rain gear. I looked at the HD gear, but damn it is $$$$$. What are you guys using?

I just got back into Atlanta from the DC area. Like most, I ran thru quite a bit of rain.
I have used the FT's but replaced them with the Tour Master Sentinel Jacket and Pants (with Nomex panels). Tour Master is a heavier material and fits me well without the billowing of larger suits.
Words of caution...(a) make an attempt to try on the Sentinel before you purchase online if going that route...sizing charts are not all that accurate, (b) make sure you purchase the ones with Nomex...not all rain pants are so equipped.
I wear a First Gear rain jacket that I've had for years and it works great. My old rain pants finally bit the dust and I just got a pair of Icon PDX rain pants from www.denniskirk.com. I haven't really tested them yet but they say they are 100% waterproof. The reason that I bought the Icon pants is because they have full side length zippers. Pulling rain pants on that only have knee length zippers over boots under an overpass quickly turns into the look of a one legged man in an a** kicking contest. The Icon's were $115 and look to be well constructed. They have waterproof zippers in the crotch and on both side zips. They have removable stirrups and a toggle cord at the ankles along with some sort of cordura "heat" protectors on the inside of the ankles.
I use Stearns nylon ripstop from Walmart. They come in separates so you can "tailor" them to fit. A set is about 35 bucks. We have ridden 500 miles in a day wearing them a nd stayed dry. I like them because they pack down small. The jacket folds up in it's own pocket. The pants come with a small stuff bag. We've had ours 5 years or so and they are still in great shape.
Check out what I have and don't forget the 10% off these all have the Nelson Rigg VLT-700 and the Biker shield have heat resistant panels on legs to protect from pipes and engine.
The Nelson Rigg is a real quality suite where the Bike shield is a great suite and are even better by just depends what you are looking for.
The Nelson Rigg also comes with a 2 year no hassle warranty.
Check them all out and don't forget your 10% forum discount using coupon HF10 on checkout.
I use HD FXRG textile riding suit and FXRG water-proof boots. Pricey but worth it over time. The suit can be used in various weather comfortably and I don't have to take extra rain gear. If you've never ridden with wet(and cold) feet I recommend you don't.
