First Gear I was really impressed the first yiime in the rain. I was completely dry exect for my boots which were my work boots--had to dump about 2 cups of water out of each.
I remember riding for hundreds of miles with trash bags and duct tape.... no, wasn't hardcore, just young and dumb and raingear wasn't much back then.
I do OK with the HD suit, but I've yet to find anything that works well for my monkey long arms (37). Thought about the Road Warrior jacket from HD since they now come in longs. I can get by with most any pants since I have footies.
Any you other tall people have any suggestions? I'm always open to ideas...
Overpass is what I have it it works well for keeping dry. I just can't wear much under it if the weather is cold because of my long arms. And it doesn't have the drawstring waist like the cheaper packable one from HD but doesn't ballon too bad...
I got the HD High Visibility gear just this year. Have not yet had to use it. However, a west coast trip leaving in 2.5 weeks will probably put the suit into action. Yes its pricey, but so was my street glide! If it keeps me dry and safe, it is money well spent. My .02.
Got Rip stop Nylon generic brand with heat shields, works great, been in some pretty heavy downpours here in Georgia.
Also the BEST rain protection usually has COLD BEER and good food
I just bought the HD Overpass II jacket and pants combo, plus the boot gaiters for the trip I'm on right now. Haven't had to use it because the ride out here was all excellent weather, so I can't say it works as good as I expect, but it sure appears to be made well and it's comfortable.
